Controversy: the study concludes that there is a link between CO2 and temperature over 440 million years, in contradiction with its own data
A new study by Judd et al (2024: https: //science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adk3705… ) claims that the CO2 atmosphere controlled the Phanerozoic climate over the past 485 million years. However, their own data published on GitHub(https://github.com/EJJudd/PhanDA/blob/main/5_Outputs/PhanDA_GMSTandCO2_percentiles.csv…) refutes this claim.

Here is the difference between the CO2 records of the last 100 million years published by Foster et al. (2017) and Judd (2024). Judd et al. have arranged the original palaeo CO2 record based on 4 different proxies to fit a preconceived theory that they worship, because it supports their ideas.
There is NO agreement between the Judd et al. CO2 series and the Foster et al. meta-analysis CO2 record for the Cenozoic! Here is a graph that clearly shows this.
Here is the original Cenozoic CO2 record based on nearly 50 studies over 3 decades and how it compares to the high resolution temperature record.
Note that current CO2 levels are among the lowest since higher life forms appeared on Earth around 500 million years ago.
